Allowing AutoDiscover.XML in Outlook 365 (PC/Mac)

When first adding an email account or if any network changes are made, the Exchange server that distributes emails also sends an AutoDiscover.xml file to the client which has configuration fields to allow the client to connect to the server. Most typically, the AutoDiscover.xml file is distributed when...

  • When a user account is configured or updated

  • When an Outlook client periodically checks for changes to the Exchange Web Services URLs

  • When underlying network connection changes occur in your Exchange messaging environment

If you ever receive the pop-up below with the AutoDiscover.xml from "autodiscover.cwu.edu/autodiscover/autodiscover.xml", do allow and be sure to check the "Don't ask me about this website again" so that your client can automatically receive the AutoDiscover.xml file without prompting. Below is an example you will see in Outlook 365.
