Restoring deleted files or folders on network drives

When a file or folder is deleted from network shares they do not appear in the Recycle Bin. Recent copies of the files are often still available.

To restore the files or folder, browse to the containing folder first.

If, for instance, N:\myfile.doc was deleted, you would want to go to My Computer to select N:.

Step One: Right-Click the folder and choose Restore previous versions.

Step Two: Select one of the time/dates listed where the file should be present and select Open.

This will open the previous version of the folder and show all contents. You can identify that you are browsing previous versions when there is a date and time in the explorer path.

Step Three: Once you have located the files or folder, right-click to Copy them.

Return to the desired destination and select desired version. Then click on Restore and then Apply.

Be aware that the actual Restore option may result in losing any updates made since the time of that snapshot and is best used only when restoring an entire folder.

If the folder deleted is in the root of the G: drive please contact the Service Desk at (509) 963-2001 for assistance.
