How to Access CWU Virtual Labs from a Windows Computer

Summary

 

This guide walks CWU students through installing and launching the Remote Desktop client to access the Virtual Student Lab on Windows.

 

 

Download the Remote Desktop App

 

1. Open a browser (Chrome or Edge) and go to:
   https://aka.ms/wvd/clients/windows
    
2. The Remote Desktop installer file may download automatically. If not, choose Run, OK, and/or Save when prompted.

 

Click Save File to download Remote Desktop.

 

 

 

Install and Launch Remote Desktop

 

 

1. Locate the downloaded file (e.g., RemoteDesktop_1.x.xxxx_x64.msi) and double-click to open it.
    
2. When the setup wizard appears, click Next to begin installation.

 

Click Next to begin installation.

 

3. Review the license agreement. Check the box for I accept the terms in the License Agreement, then click Next.

 

Check the box and click Next.

 

4. Choose your preferred installation option and click Install:

• Install just for you: Installs only for your user account (no admin rights needed).
• Install for all users: Installs for all users on the device (admin access required).

 

Select your option and click Install.

 

5. When installation completes, check Launch Remote Desktop and click Finish.

 

Check the box and click Finish.

 

6. When Remote Desktop launches, click Subscribe to access CWU Virtual Labs.

 

Click Subscribe.

 

7. Enter your CWU email (username@cwu.edu) and click Next.

 

Enter CWU email.

 

8. Re-enter your CWU email and password, then click Sign in.

 

Re-enter credentials and click Sign in.

 

9. You now have access to the CWU Virtual Labs. Available apps will appear as shown below.
