Summary
The order of the grid cards that appear on a website’s home page is determined by the order of the content inside Cascade CMS (CCMS). By changing the order of files and folders within CCMS, you control the order in which cards appear on the live site.
This process also controls the order that the left column menu appears in on standard pages.
Steps
- Log in to Cascade CMS
Go to Cascade CMS and log in using your CWU credentials. Navigate to the website you want to manage.
- Expand the Site Folder
In the left navigation panel, click the arrow next to the site’s folder to display its contents. This will show all pages and folders contained in the site.
- View and Sort Content Order
In the main (right) panel, click the “Order” label at the top of the content table. This displays the order in which CCMS reads the content — which determines the order of the cards shown on the home page. Compare this order with the card layout on your site’s home page to confirm the connection.

- Reorder Content
Click and drag the rows to rearrange them into your desired order. The cards on the home page will reflect this new order after publishing. Note: Files or folders beginning with an underscore (for example, _documents) do not display as cards and are unaffected by ordering.

- Publish the Index Page
After reordering, publish the site’s index page. Publishing ensures that your changes are reflected on the live site and the cards display in the new order.
Best Practice Tips
- Always review your site after publishing to confirm the card order updates correctly.
- Avoid renaming or moving folders unless necessary, as this can affect links and navigation.
- Use descriptive, lowercase names (without spaces) for consistency and to prevent broken links.
