Connecting to CWU-Wildcats WiFi- Android Devices

Note: Some Android version 11 and 12 phones might not be able to connect to the wireless network due to lack of software and licenses. Additionally, Android version 14 tends to have issues with the "anonymous" login colliding with your CWU Login and password.

 

 

Summary

 

This article will show you how to connect to the CWU Wildcats on most Android OS smartphones. 

 

 

Android 14 Settings

Step One

  1. Pull down the Notification Shade.
  2. Pull down to the Settings area.

 

Step Two: Once in Settings,

  1. Touch the Internet button.
  2. Select the See All under Wi-Fi.

 

Step Three: Select cwu-wildcats Wi-Fi.

 

Step Four: Check for the following settings,

  1. EAP method: PEAP
  2. Phase 2 Authentication: MSCHAPV2
  3. CA certificate: Trust on First Use

 

Step Five:

  1. Under Identity enter your username (without @cwu.edu).
  2. Under Anonymous identity enter your username again (without @cwu.edu).
  3. Under Password enter your CWU password.

 

Step Four: Tap Advanced Options at the very bottom of the screen

 

Step Five

  1. Check for the following settings:
  • Meter: Detect Automatically

  • Proxy: None
  • IP Settings: DHCP
  • Privacy: Use device MAC

2. Select Connect

 

Step Six: When it shows "Is this network trusted?" click Yes, connect.

 

 

FAQ

Question One: What if the advanced options settings on my device don't match those within these instructions? 

  • If your advanced options settings are different, please call the CWU Service Desk at 509-963-2001.

 

Question Two: Why am I unable to connect with my username?

  • Your username contains your last name and the initial of your first name (Example: The name Wellington Wildcat would be WildcatW@cwu.edu).
  • Do NOT include @cwu.edu in your username when connecting to the wifi. 
  • Instead, only use your last name and first initial (Example: WildcatW).

 

  • If you experience any errors while trying to connect, please call the CWU Service Desk at 509-963-2001.
