Add Printer to Windows 10 PC by Hostname

Internal Article Use Only

1. Open "Control Panel"

2. Click "Hardware and Sound"

3. Click "Devices and Printers"

4. Click "Add a printer"

5. Select "The printer that I want is not listed"

6. Select "Add a printer using TCP/IP address or hostname"

7. Device type should be set to "TCP/IP Device"

8. Enter printer tag number (or hostname, e.g. cwu12345) followed by ".l.cwu.edu"

Note: Port name will auto-populate.

9. Check "Query the printer and automatically select the driver to use" and click "Next"

10. If found, printer name will be displayed. Click "Next"

Note: The Printer Sharing step isn't necessary

11. Ask if user would like it as the default printer. If so, check "Set as default printer". Click "Print a test page". Click "Finish"
