Microsoft Entra-Registered Personal Devices and Encryption Keys

If you signed in from a personal Windows device with your CWU credentials to a Microsoft application (i.e., Office 365), and did not deselect the box by "Allow my organization to manage my device" your device may now be registered and managed within our CWU Microsoft Entra cloud portal. If your computer has a TPM security chip, it may have been encrypted and the BitLocker security recovery key registered to your profile in Microsoft. This is a built-in feature from Microsoft and not implemented by CWU.

If your device has been encrypted, it is VERY IMPORTANT that you make a copy of the recovery key as soon as possible. If you remove/disconnect your device from CWU management before backing up your recovery key, and Bitlocker is tripped due to a firmware update or other situations, you could lose access to your local data. The only way to use your computer again after Bitlocker trips is to enter the Recovery Key or to initiate a full Windows reset which will cause the loss of all local data.
