Register PC/Mac on ResNet (Ethernet Connection)

To register for ResNet, you must be in a residence hall or campus apartment and have the following:

  • Access to a desktop computer or laptop
  • Category 5 network cable or greater (Ethernet cable, commonly called a Cat5 cable)
  • An up-to-date MyCWU username and password

NOTE: This process will be the same when you want to connect your Smart TV, or Gaming Device to the ResNet Network.

Step One: Plug your network cable into the wall jack and your computer (every room has one data jack per pillow).

Step Two: Ensure that your computer is not attempting to connect to any wireless networks. You may need to turn off your device's WiFi.

Step Three: Open a web browser. If you are not automatically redirected, type http://hostreg.resnet.cwu.edu into the address bar and press enter.

Step Four: You may see a prompt referencing the website's security. Select the option to proceed to the site. You will see a page titled "ResNet Registration".

Step Five: Enter your MyCWU Credentials, then press the Login button.

Note: Users cannot log in with their alias of wellington.wildcat@cwu.edu or wellington.wildcat. Users will be required to log in with their username, for example, wildcatw.

Step Six: Click the link to read the Acceptable Use Policy (AUP) to pass the registration quiz. This is a requirement, and you must pass for network access. You may take the quiz as many times as you need to pass.

Step Seven: Once you have passed the registration quiz, you will be asked if you accept the terms of the Acceptable Use Policy.

Press the 'Agree and Submit' button. If you do not agree, do not click the 'Agree and Submit' button. You will not have access if you do not agree to the terms.

Step Eight: There will be a field asking for an 'MAC (Physical) address'. Enter the wired MAC address into this box.

How to find the IP/Mac Address:

Step Nine: From the 'Operating system' pulldown menu, select the appropriate Device.

Step Ten: Click "Agree and Submit".

Step Eleven: Wait 15 minutes and restart your computer.
