SharePoint - General Information

SharePoint is a file sharing and collaboration platform hosted on Office 365.

Currently, students do not have access to SharePoint, although they have access to other O365 services that are built on the SharePoint platform (e.g. OneDrive, Groups).

Staff and Faculty can request a SharePoint site. In general, it should be a department manager that puts in this request. They will need to designate a site owner, as well as an alternate. These individuals should be comfortable with technology, or at least proficient with Microsoft Office, and/or knowledgeable regarding departmental business processes.

Additionally, there is a SharePoint Standards document that should be reviewed by the submitter prior to having their site built. This document can be accessed by logging into  cwuwildcat.sharepoint.com using username@cwu.edu and network password (e.g. lunstrum@cwu.edu), and then clicking the link at the bottom of the page for the CWU SHAREPOINT STANDARDS. (or click HERE)

Once a ticket has been submitted, the online SharePoint Administrator will contact the submitter and schedule a meeting to discuss business needs and to provide a demo of a departmental site.

TO REQUEST A SITE

1.) Log into cwuwildcat.sharepoint.com using username@cwu.edu and network password (e.g. lunstrum@cwu.edu). Click the REQUEST A SHAREPOINT SITE link that will redirect to the TeamDynamix ticket, Request a SharePoint Site for a Department (or click HERE), or

2.) Make a request through the Service Desk where staff will use the same ticket template to put in the request.

TO REQUEST ASSISTANCE WITH A SHAREPOINT SITE

In general, SharePoint site team members will first direct any issues or questions to their site owners or alternate site owners. Site owners and alternates are peer mentored with the online SharePoint Administrator so that they are well equipped to deal with site member issues and questions. Site owners (or alternates) can then request assistance as needed using the Request Assistance with a SharePoint Site TeamDynamix ticket (or click HERE). In the event that a site member cannot get prompt assistance from their site owner or alternate, it is appropriate to submit the ticket on their behalf and the administrator will be happy to assist.
