VPN Instructions for PC - Accessing the Campus Network Remotely.

Important: VPN connections will only work from off campus (or via ResNet connections). VPN connection is also required for personally owned computers attempting to access network resources on campus. This guide should be followed once off of the CWU network.

Before accessing the VPN Client you need to have requested access to the VPN Network.

Please note, your system must meet the following requirements:
Operating System: Windows 10 or Windows 11
Firewall: Firewall installed; running/enabled
Patch Management: Apple Software Update installed; running/enabled
Antivirus: Antivirus installed, virus definitions must be less than 4 days old, FULL virus scan in the last 30 days

Step One: To load the new VPN Client, open an internet browser and click the address below.  Login with your CWU username and password.  (MFA is required if enabled on your account)

Step Two: Download the VPN client appropriate for your system (Windows 64-bit).


Step Three: Install the client using default choices.

Below is what you should see to start the manual installation process.

 Follow the installation steps until you come to the window bellow and click Close.


Step Four: Once the installation is complete, find and open the GlobalProtect App (Inside Palo Alto Networks Folder) from start menu or system tray.  Click on Get Started and enter in the portal address.  Connect to VPN (Gateway portal address is remote.cwu.edu).  Login using your MyCWU credentials again (MFA for a second time)


Step Five: Once connected, you should see the following page:

This means you have successfully connected via VPN.
