CWU Student Technology Guide

CWU Virtual Labs: 
Central provides access to a virtual lab environment for all enrolled students.  If you are enrolled, your CWU account will grant access from anywhere you have internet access to a workspace where you’ll find both individual applications and a Windows Lab Desktop.  Some of your courses may require specific software that is only available with a CWU license, we provide student access to that software via the Windows Virtual Desktop.

  • Access to the Virtual Labs via the web client:
    • https://wvd.cwu.edu Includes licensed software.  In addition, it also provides access to the General Lab desktop and applications.  Please note: Access to department-specific programs that need a higher graphics processor may be accessible via department request.
  • Access to the Virtual Labs via either the Windows or Mac Remote Desktop Client Application
  • This page lists all of the software accessible to students. [NOTE! The GPU Desktop Applications requires permission based on classes you are in.]

CWU Campus Computer Labs:
Central has several open Student Technology Fee Labs (Ellensburg and Lynnwood) as well as department-specific computer labs. Schedules and additional information for the Tech fee labs can be found here:  CWU Student Fee Computer Labs

Laptop Checkout Options:

Brooks Library Webpage and the Multimodal Education Center, have laptops available to check out for short periods of time.  Click on the name links for the websites with more information. 

Printing via WEPA kiosk:

  • Enrolled students receive a $15 credit/quarter to use for WEPA printing.
  • WEPA Kiosk print-release stations are located around campus (also one each at Lynnwood and Des Moines campuses). Kiosk locations: https://www.wepanow.com/maps  This site opens on the whole US.  For CWU details add the search term"CWU" or "98926" to see the map. In addition, below the map are locations in table format.
  • WEPA Kiosks are like using an ATM machine.  You can send your print to the WEPA cloud and then release it from any WEPA Kiosk within 6 days.  You can also connect your flash drive directly to the kiosk to print.

Microsoft Office 365 for Personal Computers:

Students are provided a license to the O365 suite of programs (not all programs are included), by browsing to https://www.microsoft365.com/ and signing in with your CWU credentials. [NOTE! Your credentials are some version of your last name and your first initials. You can not log in with your email "Alias" which shows your firstname.lastname@cwu.edu.  This version is not your log in.] You can download the programs on your personal computing devices.  In addition, this is where you access your CWU OneDrive for cloud storage.
